Final Exam

Due June 15th, 11:59 PM HOL-time

Welcome to your final examination. As with previous assignments, below are a range of options for you to choose between. We will only be grading the first 60 points worth of work you complete - you can do more options for fun if you like but you won't be able to earn additional points for them.

Send all work in one email to holherbologyhomework@gmail.com with the subject line "Herbology - Final - Hol Name". For example, if I was submitting, my subject line would read: Herbology - Final -Sky Alton. Please remember to also put your Hol Name and House at the top of the email!

No attachments will be opened - that includes Google Drive links and similar. If you submit an image as part of your assignment, please upload it to an image hosting website and send the link.

Practical (10 points)

I would like you to repot a fanged geranium. Describe the process to me, including what equipment you use and any safety precautions you take. Try to make sure you show off your knowledge of the plant as well. (minimum 100 words)

The Perfect Plant (10 points)

We don't just keep these greenhouses for study purposes. We also provide plants to residence of the castle who need them for their work. Name the plants needed by the following people to accomplish their tasks.

1. The potions professor wants ingredients for his lesson on The Draught of Living Death. Search back through the class to find which 3 (3) we covered.

2. The healers in the hospital wing are after something to help heal a nasty cut that someone got after falling off their broomstick. There's also been an outbreak of pimples that they'd like to get on top of before people try cursing them off. Which 2 plants are they looking for?

3. The Defence Against the Dark Arts professor is hoping to do a class on untraditional ways of protecting against dark forces. Can you suggest 2 plants which are sometimes used as security measures?

4. The charms professor has noticed a lot of exam stress in her 5th year students. She's hoping adding a plant or two to her classroom will help create a more relaxed atmosphere. She doesn't want something that makes a noise though as this might be distracting. Suggest at least 3 options from our lesson on Pleasing Plants that might suit her.

Please annotate your diagram with notes and labels, detailing the key parts of the plant and their function.

Greenhouse Tales (20 points)

We've reached the end of the class. It's time to reflect on what you enjoyed most, what you learned and what you hope never to have to do again. Describe your last day in the greenhouse and any reflections you make about your experiences. As ever, anything goes. (minimum 200 words)

We're always looking to expand the greenhouses with fascinating new plants. Do some research and suggest 5 magical or non-magical plants you think should be added to the collection. Explain your reasoning for each in a couple of lines.

Share your thoughts about the class in at least 50 words. Were their any bits you particularly liked? did you have enough options in the homework? is there anything you think could be improved? Let me know.
